With that insanity out of the way, or at least temporarily medicated into submission, I'd like to advise that if you must use PHP (yeah, I don't really like it) you at least use Cake.

It's good stuff. Just like real cake. Or pie.

I've never used Cake before, but I think I'm going to start looking into it. It doesn't mean I would stop writing my own custom code, but I would probably use Cake for freelance stuff.
