As some of you may know... today is the day for the big choice.

I have currently been accepted to 3 computer science programs and 1 non computer science program ( UOIT, Ryerson, Windsor)

my question is..... compared to grade 12 mathematics....how hard are the math courses in university? Are they more logic based or more computation based???

The reason behind it is that I am not so great at math itself ( got a 70% in advanced functions and am currently sitting at a 68 in calculus and vectors.....) and i think that i might not be able to handle it... as it took a great ammount of effort to acheive the 70%..... I am actually good when it comes to understanding concepts.... but I end up getting confused when stuff becomes complicated as well as make some "silly" errors such as messing up the signs ( I have been trying to fix this but it is just a part of me).

my other option is to go towards industrial design which is less math and more hands on..... but it does not have as good pay as a computer scientist......[/b]

Naturally University level Math is more complicated than in highschool, but the first year is typically spend bringing everyone up to the same level. The amount and level of courses also depends on the school.

Conceptually, Computer Science is just a (very specialized) applied Math. I hope you understand that going into the program.

The type and amount of math might vary somewhat between universities, but all math is based in logic, and as you go on, math becomes less about actually performing computations.

My advice? To go into CS you should enjoy math.
