i have noticed that a lot of people are getting accepted into Computer Science Co-op at Waterloo.
so, im getting worried about my marks.
i know you guys arent the admissions department, but what do you think of my grades?
MHF4U (functions)- 76 (took this class in grade 11)
MCV4U (calculus)- 96
ENG4U (english)- 88
FRA4U (french)- 86
CHY4U (world history)- 89 (took this class in grade 11)
SCH4U (chemistry)- 80
SNC4M (general science)- could get above 90
SPH4U (physics)- could get above 90
FLO4U (french literature)- could get above 85
ETS (english literature)- could get above 85
i am also an ib student
Math SL- predicted grade 7/7
Physics SL- predicted grade 5/7
History SL- final grade 5/7
English HL- predicted grade 6/7
French HL- predicted grade 5/7
Chemistry HL- predicted grade 5/7
in grade 11, i was on a 16 episode tv show so i missed a lot of classes... thus, i had a bad grade in math. i put it in my AIF form
so, would it be a longshot for me to get into waterloo? or are my grades fine?
Thank you! |

Does it matter?
Seriously, do people not apply to universities because they don't think they'll get accepted? |

Well, the functions mark is explained and the Calculus mark basically makes up for it. There are only two points which would probably not impact your chances that much. The first is the Chemistry mark, just because 80 seems a bit low compared to others. The other point is that you didn't take computer science and I'm pretty sure that taking computer science in HS increases your chances significantly because that way they don't have to put you through an intro course plus it would help you understand the harder concepts faster.
I don't understand the IB stuff, so I have no comment about that.
If you keep the goals that you have set for yourself, then I would think you would get an acceptance in March; just because they prefer students who have done the computer science course. |

My marks are pretty average/low, I got an acceptance from McMaster and Guelph (with $2000 scholarship from Guelph).
I haven't heard anything from Waterloo yet... but I'm really hoping that's because I applied to co-op and I am still being considered for that. |

Mirhagk, define average/low. It seems that when people say "a low mark" around here, they mean a 75. |

well I define average/low as the entrance requirement or lower.
I have about 85 average I think, so I may not get into waterloo. |

Don't worry mirhagk, you'll still have a chance.
I got into SE and CS (both coop) with a similar average. I think it was all because of my AIF ![Smile Smile](http://compsci.ca/v3/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |

average shouldn't matter to you! you are an ib diploma and for that they will take you right a way! |

Really now? They still look at either your points out of 42 or your translated marks. |
