On the home page there is a "Recent Discussions" box. The dots are different colors, for all-too-arcane reasons.

You guys need to add a few lines of code and get a Legend for it. When i first joined it was a nuisance I didn't know, and a friend of mine also pointed it out.

There's a grand total of 2 possible colours.

Red -- threads with posts that you have not read
Black -- threads with posts that you have already read

I thought it was rather simple. Red means its unread, black is read.

The sentence was past tense. I've figured it out. But it's annoying, and I was simply recommending a fix. Convenience is one of the top things consumers look for anyhow.

I would imagine that anyone with basic knowledge of forums would be able to distinguish (and even those who don't) without much difficulty.
Why would we need a legend? It's pretty self-explanatory...

And the point is that you learnt quickly (hopefully).
I don't call it convenience, I would call it unnecessary clutter.

That would depend on how it was implemented, and also would be an opinion [as all aesthetics are].

I totally thought this thread was going to be about some old user who had legendary status. Also, this idea is silly. a:visited is something you see everywhere on the web.

Fair enough...though I still think that a Computer Science Forum would not require that.

I was thinking the same thing Laughing ...though the oldest user is Dan and he already has a legend along with Tony.
