[b]Hello Everyone
I am a student in Ontario. (Currently in Grade 11)
Anyway I'm thinking to go for computer science when I go to university..
well.. yeah I want to go to UW(University of Waterloo), and I was wondering if I could get into it with my mark...

Grade 11 Functions : 94
Grade 11 Chemistry : 73(?) didn't get my report card yet
Grade 11 Biology : 65?
Grade 10 Computer Science : 84
Grade 11 Computer Science : 77
I took grade 12 Chemistry in summer school.. and ended up with a 92 average.

k... I did really poorly on Biology... hopefully they won't look at it
and here goes my questions
1) Do they look at my grade 11 marks? including bio which i did poorly on...??
2) If i took a course twice for GRADE 11 COURSE! would they look at the higher mark?
3) What average do i need to get into it?

I think I will do
grade 12 functions and calculus good. Maybe ... cuz i got 94 in grade 11 functions.. so.. around
12 Functions : 93 (maybe)
12 Calculus : 90 (maybe)
12 Chemi I ended up with : 92... (done)
12 computer Science... maybe 84? 86? (maybe)
12 English : 86 ( maybe)

thanks

The admissions are decided on the top 6 (must include required courses, for CS I think those are English and Functions) grade 12U courses + supplemental information (such as Math/CS contests and a recommendation from a teacher). The cut-off differs from year to year, but is typically around mid~high 80s.

Maybe for early admissions.

Why would you not apply early?

This will probably now be of no relevance to the creator of the thread, but just now for the general viewer: Gr10 and Gr9 marks dont really matter much (No reason not to care though, dont get me wrong), its essentially junior year where universities look for marks. You send in your application at the end of 11th and , if given the general acceptance, you will be asked to send in your 12th marks just to show academic consistency. Anyway, that was just my experience, as a Canadian who went to the U.S for uni.

Grade 9 and 10 marks do not matter at all in Canada. They're not disclosed to OUAC. Ggrade 12 finals and second semester midterms are generally considered the most important from the people I surveyed.

Also, do apply early as it's nice to get accepted early and they aren't going to reject you. Universities do not reject people. Universities want students, it's just that they can only take so many.

Those projected marks are fine, as long as you actually achieve them.

I dont know if it is because of my AIF but ive applied to UW CS, currently with an avg of 86. Some other people post their marks
and they already got their acceptance with avgs of around 85. It could be due to the AIF, in this case, i suggest you do more ecs and
get some awards. I also think that it is possibly due to my low gr 11 marks, everything was decent except phyiscs, 66. What Im trying to say
is that the biology mark will bring you down until midterm second semester.
