just got a new android phone... was playing with the security pattern function... & it made me curious...

what's the largest amount of connections one may make while forming a symmetric pattern?

also, is it possible to triforce?

I found the pattern to be a rather bad idea in terms of security. After using it for a few days i noticed that you looked at my phone with the right anagle of light you could offten see the pattern in a smudge on the screen. This is especially true if you tend to just check the time or if you have messges frequently and do not touch the screen other then to eneter the pattern.

So unless you plan on cleaning off your screen every time you eneter the pattern, i recomened just using a password. As for the number of connections I blive you can only touch each node once and the pattern need not be symmetrical (so for my phone the number is 8). At least on my phone there is not enough nodes to make a triforce, also you can not touch the same node twice so the triangles would not be connected fully even if there was enough nodes.

so far i've found one 8 point symmetrical pattern (not counting different orientations). are there more?

Is there any reason you want symmetric patterns? They would be easier to guess.
