Iv'e been out of school for many years now since i graduated at 17.
I really forgot alot of things in school so you could put me at a zero for everything, as i would have to relearn it.
I am interested in taking a course in college. the worry:
That math will be required that i don't know, or do they re-teach it?
I'm wondering how others in my situation experianced this, was it to hard? to much? refreshers work?
thanks. I just dont wanna start something and get completely blind sided and struggle, etc. I'd rather have warning to refresher much before. I'm not even sure which math skills would be required, but it says it is. |

First year courses are typically designed as learning curves to get everyone to the same level. That being said, if it's been a while and you are out of practice (more in terms of learning new material and doing academic work, than of particular skill), then the learning curve will be steeper than average.
Not sure what kind of first-year college level math is used, but for Computer Science courses it will probably not get past http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mathematical_induction |

If you are taking CS, there are two levels of math courses that you can take: 130's, or 140's, 140's being the advanced math courses. You'll mostly have to take a Calculus 1 course, and depending on the university, an Algebra course. Everything is taught bottom up, and the only thing you are expected to know is your high school math. A majority of first year is a review of grade 12 (though not all of it).
You should be fine, as long as you review your high school material. |

Not that i think anyone would be really interested, but this is what im really interested in...
http://me.rrc.mb.ca/Catalogue/ProgramInfo.aspx?ProgCode=BUSGF-DP&RegionCode=WPG
I want to major in 1 or both of these....
1) Application Development builds proficiency in application development for business systems. Major languages explored include Java, .Net, and Powerbuilder.
OR
2) Web Development will provide you with the specialized skills you need to develop content for the Web, including Web design, server-side technologies, introductory Internet security, platform integration, and mobile technologies.
Just wanted to share with the community...
I had tried to go to college out of high school 6 years ago but because of my families situation i wasn't able to secure i loan, so hopefully this time i'll be more lucky ![Smile Smile](http://compsci.ca/v3/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |

I'm into web development, but that's a personal bias/interest. Good luck! |
