I need something like TextPlus, where I can send texts to a cell phone, but I need it for PC, and be able to do it at the command line.

Basically I want my home computer to be able to text me. (I have plans to integrate this with kinect for a security system, an unautherized person enters my room, and my computer can send me a text letting me know. [that way if I know someone's home, I can ignore it, or if everyone is out, then I know I may have a problem.])

I would also like to be able to recieve texts, however that is less important.

Haha, bloody brilliant!
I would like to try this, might be cool. (and I live with a total creeper)
The coolest implementation of this type of thing is someone set up his front door to be able to unlock and lock from a text message.

I'll keep my eye on this topic.

That's actually brilliant. I wanna set up my computer to actually perform basic actions perhaps, using a cell phone.

So while I'm at school I could run a system defrag, or even run a quick algorithm I type up.

I dunno, would be really cool to experiment with, and I'm looking, the software probably exists, and if not, I'll need something that accesses one of those thousands of sites that let you do it, and I don't know much about scripting, or networking.

A lot of service providers also offer email-to-SMS service. Something like <your-number>@<your-provider> that will be turned into an SMS and forwarded to you.

Having your computer receive SMS messages would require hooking it up to a modem with a dedicated SIM card (and thus having its own number).

I just realized that last period lol, that I could just email the number. However I still need an easy to use email interface for a program.

My list of desired options include:
Outgoing Texts
Incoming Texts
Outgoing picture messaging
