i was wondering how i could install mac os snow leopard on my pc. i tried googling it but all the links seems very troublesome and confusing and some of them do not work.
so if anyone wants to help me out or point me to the right direction, tht would be really great.
i do have VMWare on my pc, a Mac OS X Install DVD and my processor is intel based.
thanks!

That might not be enough, if your other major components are incompatible. Reference http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/HCL_10.6.6 for tested hardware. And pretty much the rest of that wiki for everything else http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/Main_Page

There are certain advantages in Operating System development / performance when it gets to run only on a known set of hardware. Apple gets to test their OS on every type of a machine they ship it with. Linux tries to run on every possible permutation of hardware components, and naturally that is untestable and sometimes introduces odd behaviour.

It sounds like you might be confusing Mac (hardware) with Mac OS X (software). There's no such thing as "Windows machine".

To be fair, Apple does go out of their way to prevent OS X from running on "non-authorized" hardware. Both in software implementation and (when that was defeated) with legal means (such as against Psystar). There's money to be made in hardware for Apple.

It has also been pointed out to me that a hackintosh could indeed be setup on any Intel based machine. http://tonymacx86.blogspot.com/2010/04/iboot-multibeast-install-mac-os-x-on.html

How does a Hackintosh take more time and effort to build? A Hackintosh is a "Windows PC" with Mac OS X on it, so it's exactly the same as a "regular PC".

Windows tends to 'just work' on most hardware Andrew. OS X will 'just work' on Apple hardware, and try its best to not work on 3rd party hardware. Updates to OS X tend to break installs and you need to find workarounds fairly frequently.

I have a hard time believing apple makes it's OS' only support it's hardware out for any reason other than money. Apple is the biggest bloodsucker for money.

I mean if you look around and the parts in apple machines, and try to build one yourself, it'd be less than half the price is most circumstances. Whereas that's only true for high end PC's, and then not by much. (If you try to build a windows pc with just the parts, you'll find you don't really save that much money, if you save any at all).

Basically for their $4000 mac, they charge you $2000 for the case and OS. They literally charge you like $100 for a dvd drive........

Sorry my little rant about apple is over, I actually would like to install a hackintosh too, but only because they force you to if you want to develop for iPod touch.

Of course they do it for money. Did anyone say they didn't? Yeah, their hardware is way overpriced. But it's bet best quality build you'll find ever. Unibody macbooks are damn near indestructible (except for MPAs- they're like paper and useless).

Quality must be prepared with price when talking about something with such a wide variety of options such as computers. You can't compare a mac book to anything but a $1500 laptop, a full on gaming computer, which are pretty well built.

Apple is designed to overprice everything...

What do you think of the new macbooks?
And is there any way to run a mac virtual machine? Will hackintosh work with VMware?

Actually I really want to know that too, being able to actually dev for iPod touch without having to pay apple money would be amazing.
