Hey guys,
So basically when I shutdown my computer, sometimes I message pops up saying "Critical Error", but it closes too fast for me to see what it says. I'd like to know what program causes it and I've checked Event Viewer, but I can't figure out where the critical errors are in there. Can somebody help me? |

I don't know as this is the best approach, but if you have Vista or Windows 7, you can "trick" Windows into shutting down without actually shutting down. What I mean is: start up a copy of some largish files from one disk to another in Windows Explorer. Then, while that's running, shut down. Win Vista and 7 will wait for the transfer to complete before closing, but will send SIGTERM (or whatever windows uses) to all processes. You can then click "Cancel" on the waiting-to-shutdown dialog. You should get to see your culprit program shut down, and the system won't go down immediately after it appears.
Or, I could be completely wrong. Save your work first. |

Interesting suggestion. I would've thought Windows would cancel the file transfer. I will try it if I get the chance, but it happens intermittently and I can't predict when it's going to happen. |
