Hi every body;

I am currently pursuing software engineering(5th semester) from NUST (Pakistan); i have a plan to transfer my admission to any Canadian university after 6th semester; (it means i will have my 7th semester in some Canadian university)

i have the following questions:

i). Are their any chances that the Canadian universities accept my credits for courses which i took here;

ii). kindly recommend me some universities which are offering software engineering (i have special interest in artificial intelligence and computer vision ; so kindly keep in mind while giving suggestions) ; other that university of Toronto ; university of Waterloo ;

iii). what u think; will it be easy to adjust in a different environment during the final year of a bachelor degree.

iv). in Pakistan here we have a final year project (in 7th and 8th semester); does the same apply to Canadian universities and if their is a final year project;does it starts during 7th semester or earlier (I am not talking about the specific projects which are specific to the courses ; which are given throughout the degree)

v). here i am doing software engineering ; is there any chance that i go to computer sciences. (since i have seen that there are limited universities which are offering software engineering)

P.S: kindly recommend some universities ; (it would be great if u provide list of universities which are providing bachelors in software engineering or computer sciences)

my cgpa is 2.75 (4.0 scale) ;

any replies will be appreciated

regards
usama

I would recommend uWaterloo or UofT for software or computer engineering (uWaterloo also has a good math program)...

First, I'm under the impression that Universities might not be interested in taking someone that far into the program. Depending on how well your courses transfer, you could try to enter into an earlier point (maybe 5th semester again)

Another point to consider is that Software Engineering is typically very rigorously structured, with little opportunity to make up for missing courses; meaning that the University might ask you to start with 1st semester. A better choice might be to do Computer Science, which is similar and allows much more flexibility.

Transfer of courses could be a problem. I've had problems with this when I was changing majors within the same University, because course descriptions were slightly different for different faculties. You might be interested in the concept of "challenge for credit" -- a process where you demonstrate knowledge of the subject to earn a credit without taking the course (commonly by writing the final exam). This option might not be always available.
