So as many of you know i got a mac book pro, and being a PC for 13yrs, i'm still new in some things...

so i have a 'razor naga' mouse and i cant for the life of me properly install the driver from the razor site
i have a .dmg file, so i click that i get a pretty box with a .pkg file, so i click that, and an installer pops up..etc..then it reboots...fine right?
nope.
when i strt up i cant find my newly installed program nor properly use my mouse, it moves very slowly even though its set up right in preferences, so i've basically 'installed' the driver like 5 times with nthing working,

what am i doing wrong?

Get USB Overdrive. It's the best mouse driver for all mice.

It sounds like you've done the right steps, especially if the mouse settings appear in the System Preferences. Unless you are referring to the Trackpad setting (that's the only one I have) -- that would probably be different from a USB device.
