Ok, so I'm new here.....just browsing through forums and I can't find any information for the universities I wish to apply to. :/
I do the IB programme full-time so I don't have any Ontario high school marks or anything....
The universities that I plan to apply to are:
Toronto, Waterloo, Western Ontario, Carleton, Ottawa, Queens, Alberta, Manitoba and im applying for Computer Science for all of these.
Honestly, I don't expect to get into UT or UW considering I have only a 4 for HL math and UW requires a 6 to be considered and I don't have high hopes for UT or Queens either.
So, out of the rest of the universities - (Western Ontario, Carleton, Ottawa, Queens, Alberta, Manitoba) which one would be the best for Computer Science?? :S |

Western, Carleton, and Ottawa U all have fairly comparable comp sci course, and both Ottawa and London are wonderful cities with a large demand for tech jobs. Queens while a great school is not really known for comp sci and I haven't really heard much about them, however if your looking to do co-op Kingston isn't exactly the best place for a comp sci and you'll most likely have to look elsewhere for jobs. As for Alberta and Manitoba, well I have no clue, so really just look at the schools, their campus's, go visit if you can, and t really just comes down to personal choice. For a bachelors degree where it comes from is not that important, what's more important is that you find an environment in which you can both be productive and enjoy your time as really undergrad will be some of the best years of your life. |

Thanks for the reply!
I'm currently living abroad at the moment so campus visits are inaccessible right now. Although Ottawa/Alberta are my top choices right now since I've tried to look through as many sources as possible for campus photos, while Manitoba is mainly my 'safety' uni since I wouldn't mind going there despite the weather.
As an additional question if anyone would care to answer, if anyone's done IB, how hard would it be to get into Queens/Western's CompSci programs with a 29 predicted? Assuming I would be applying for Western's Science faculty. |
