Hey guys,

I was wondering if there is a way to pick first year courses earlier than the dates that Waterloo has provided to pick first year courses (12 - 15 July? somewhere close to that). I might be on vacation during the month of July and am kinda worried about this thing.

Thank for any help and information you can provide. Very Happy

I don't know. You should contact Waterloo for details.

Try to plan for having some internet connectivity while on a vacation, or leave your credentials with someone who you trust to not seriously mess up your enrollment (sketch, I know... but the enrollment system is kind of messed up, and sometimes that's the only way).

If necessary, you can always enroll afterwards during open enrollment. Though if classes are fully booked you may need special permission.

I also recall for the very first term there's a special process where you take your math courses with the same section of people. (Not sure if that is still done.)

And a vacation from the Internet? Are you crazy? Razz

They don't do that anymore. We can select what ever section we want.

I am gonna talk to guidance counsellor tomorrow and see what they can do. Otherwise I might have to arrange something so my courses get picked properly. Do we actually get to choose courses the first year? Or are they kind of picked for us?

They'll chuck you in your core courses but leave out your electives IIRC (that's what they did for us this year, though I guess it could change).

If you are unable to do your enrolment, you might want to contact the registrar or your department and see if you can set up some sort of pre-enrolment. Alternatively, if you could gain access to an internet caf? or something while on vacation, you could do them there (just be sure to log out afterwards and make sure it's not like Joe's Computers and its in a trailer w/ a sketch cable hanging out the window)
