Apple rejects Dashboard app for iPad

Basically, someone made an app for iPad that clones the OS X Dashboard, and Apple rejected it from the appStore.

Wow, this was a great app. It would have looked great on the iPad and would have perhaps made it more useful. Too bad Apple had to reject, they will probably add this function to the second generation of the iPad as one of the major additions (another excuse to rip off people for something which has already been developed AND is open-source).

If I had an iPad, I would probably jailbreak it just for this amazing feature...

Yes! This is what the Ipad should have been in the first place! The sweet-sweet love child of an Iphone and a laptop. I hope he works on it some more.

I don't own any Apple products. Regardless, I don't have anything against them either. For music I use my CD's, and for computer I just use my HP laptop because I don't see it's worth the price. Very fun to use, and powerful stuff too, just hefty on costs. Never got into the Smart phone/device craze either - I always carry a pen & pad in my pocket. That'll do.

But Apple does have great ideas, and their dock system was one of them. Hell, thats why there are so many dock simulators for PC. I've got one myself and love it - Rocketdock. But for Apple to reject an app as such is just plain stupid in my opinion. The iPad is certainly big enough (Finally! An iPod touch for old people! ), I don't see why they'd decide against it.

Unless they're planning to release they're own official version soon...

I have no doubt that they will. The problem is that it should have came with the Ipad in the first place.

Well, they're planning to release iPhone OS 4.0 this year for iPad and they said that there would be many new features such as multitasking. I'm willing to bet that a dashboard is coming to the iPad. But Apple hasn't said much, so most things on the net are just speculation.

BTW, does anyone find it annoying that 4.0 for first gen iPhones and iPod touches have NO new features? It's somewhat annoying that Apple would just forget about us early adopters. Without us, iPhone wouldn't have been a success. But personally I don't care too much because all of the new features were available to me a long time ago by jailbreaking. Actually, come to think of it, it seems like Apple went into Cydia, stole the ideas, and incorporated it into the new OS.
