Guys, the 2010 Olympics were epic. We won 14 Gold Medals and set a new world record for the winter games with it. We won the most epic hockey game of all time, USA vs Canada (the 2nd).
As a side note, William Shatner showed up in the closing ceremonies, and was hilarious. The Canadian stereotypes were also hilarious.
Did you guys watch it? We're all a bunch of geeks that are normally not known for our tastes in physical activity...but I found it hard to not get pulled in by the patriotism and so did many of my geeky friends. Did you guys find the same? What'd you guys think of the Olympics? |

I found the opening ceremony more interesting (the second half) than the closing. The stereotypes were kind of overkill in my opinion.
But the opening of the final ceremony was really amusing with the mime. |

Canada has by far not only made serious history in many many areas with these games, but also set the bar extremely high for the Winter Games to come.
I believe we also smashed the record for most watched television broadcast with that last Hockey game previously held by the M*A*S*H finale episode. Also, I don't think downtown Toronto has ever in its history been shut down like that. I'd hate to be the one trying to drive home. |

Epic hockey game, perfect ending.
Not a big fan of the closing ceremony, but loved the technology used. BUT again, who cares, EPIC GAME! |

Not only did I enjoy watching the first part of the closing ceremonies (I think i lost interest when Avril lavigne started singing) but throughout the entire two weeks, there were moments while watching the broadcast that I got a little teary-eyed. I'm not one for all out patriotism either... I mean, I love living in Canada, and everything, but I didnt think that some of the things I watched would have such an impact on me.
We didnt sit back and just watch the games being played in our country, we definitely showed that we know how to compete when it counts.
I say congratulations Canada. |

Yea, especially with Canada winning 14 Gold medals, which is the most ever won by any country at the Winter Olympics (previous record of 13 Gold medals held by the Russians). |

Love how they made fun of the Opening ceremony with the 4th pillar rising from the ground. Can't believe that Canada let those 2 unnecessary goals in to make it overtime. I like Opening best. Looking forward to Sochi 2014 in russia . GO CANADA (and russia) |

The next one is in Russia? Sweet. Also this should have been created when the olympics started so there would be more posts. *Shrugs* And I did not watch much of the olympics, but I also didn't watch much television either so it kinda works out. |

I found some people's idea of patriotism distasteful, but it was an very enjoyable Olympics. |

For some reason the word patriotism makes me think of the states.
I guess I think of it as nationalism. |

Patriotism is a fine concept AS LONG AS it is not held higher than humanity, it strengthens bond between people and promotes culture.
As for the olympics, Hockey game last night was the best hockey game ever I screamed so hardmy mom smacked me in the back of the head |

It certainly was an amazing match, even when you exclude the importance of it. |
