ok so my laptop died in my arms yesterday it was old
so i took out the hdd and plugged it into a external reader so i could get my files off of it. I can access all the folders except for the old "My Documents" folder. it says that there is some kind of restriction... :S some of my school work was in that folder.
what do i do? is it some kind of encryption on the disk?
the laptop used to run win xp btw. |

Wow that sucks...
I have a crazy idea though. What if you get another laptop (xp compatable), replace the hdd, and run it. And another idea is you can try installing the hdd on a desktop comp. Or try and do some customization to an external hard drive.
I'm just guessing at what to do cause it never happened to me. |

Well I'm guessing that that is a good idea. Though I wouldn't know as it never happened to me. |

Had this happen to me every time I reformatted my comp and tried taking files from my external. Without further ado, I present you a flowy-chart and the respected MicroSoft link should you destest my fine art.
