|
|
About a day ago, I heard from parents and students who claim that guidance councillers and other sources have told them that waterloo will no longer accept students who attain marks from private schools, or students who submit english marks received in summer school. ---This I don't stress about.
However, a guidance counciller at a friend's (no names)school says that Waterloo will not accept studnets who have taken advanced functions in grade 11 for the year 2011. ---This, I am worried about
Is this all just a myth, or are these changes really going to get implemented soon?
Thanks in advance |

I would recommend only listening to the source of administration from the school in question (which is uwaterloo). Some reason I am thinking this is false, but I suppose it is a possibility, no-one here can give you a definite answer (except possible someone from UW that works on the admissions board which I am not sure exist on this forum).. |

It is highly unlikely, I very much doubt the school would explicitly reject groups like that. Maybe they meant those things would not count towards admission averages? |

I have a friend in gr 12 taking private school english and took advanced function in gr 11 who just got accepted into waterloo cs a few weeks ago.
I don't see any problem with private school english... everyone I know at waterloo who took private school in gr 12 (including me) passed ELPE, but I know ppl who took english in day school and didn't pass. |

Im currently in Gr.10 and working towards UW and/or McMaster. My father recieved some info from a co-worker about those universities and the requirements. He didn't mention anything about requirement changes. This sort of reminds me of that 'Are you ready for the test?' joke. |

This doesn't make sense because you need at the university level. If you don't take Advanced functions in grade 12 then you aren't able to take Calculus. If this is a fast tracking deal (I have forgotten when which course was supposed to be taken when) then that really shouldn't be an issue either. I don't think universities have the right to tell you when you should take your high school courses. |

Yah, that makes no sense at all. Waterloo caters to those people who would take that course. Preventing them from entering makes no sense at all. |

Methinks your friend was either misinformed or wanted to have some fun at your gullible self's expense. |

I think it's a false alarm. I took advanced functions last year, so I didn't re-take it again this year and Waterloo admitted me regardless if I took it last year or this year. |
