Alright I have to find a Co-op placement in 3 days or I am completely screwed.
I have looked into various airports, and computer stores. NO DICE.
Where would be a place that would accept a Highschool Co-op student, for either aviation or CS. (approx 75 avg in U level programs) |

Worse case scenario: some office building IT department.
I was at Virgin Mobile HQ downtown (Toronto). |

My worst case was working at a bank in downtown Toronto where I had little direction and didn't know what the rules were. Rules like you can rarely say no to someone wanting to show you something, that if something doesn't work you need to speak up and that where appropriate get work that one can actually do.
Granted this was back in the fall of 1994, but I think some problems from then still exist now like how to secure laptops where I explored if swapping the esc and enter keys would be a good thing to do. This was also back in the days of a Token Ring network, OS/2, and lots of other ancient things that have either died or nearly died completely in the following 15 years that we've had in this world.
What is the worst thing that happens if you don't find a placement? Could the school give you a placement for doing IT work? Just an idea or two. |

I wouldn't say my Virgin Mobile placement was bad, in fact I loved it. They have a great atmosphere there, even the execs wore jeans and t-shirts. There was a wii and foosball table in the lounge, and things were pretty casual there. So long as you got your work done.
I refered to "worse case scenario" in that the worse position you could apply for remotely related to your field of interest while not wanting to hang yourself would be office IT work. Poor choice of words on my part.
But I am rather shocked your school has not made any effort to help you secure a placement somewhere, mine did. Each year. |

Well they did help me, BUT my first choices were something related to being a pilot. So since all of the major airports have too many safety regulations that I don't meet, (being actually certified to work around aircraft license etc...)
I told them I was interested In CS also Like programming Wise, and Possible IT work. After they called the closest places available, they couldn't get me more than a ooh yea i have a maybe at this place that is almost unrelated. SO doing some research of my own and some talking to the head of the department today, I found a computer store in the town that my school is in, and, the owner of the store actually knew the co-op person i was talking to. BUT a guy just recently quit, so again just a possibility not a yes.
SO im kinda worried that I will not get a placement. Because If I don't have by thursday of next week I am probably going to have to drop the course. because there is no way i can get the required hours. (220) |

I stubbed my toe on a chair before, so DONT USE CHAIRS, THEY SUCK LOLZ... logical? No.
You make no sense.
Schoolboards are perfectly fine to apply/work for. Its just like any other job, you can have a good experience or a bad one, its up to you. |
