I recently decided to dual boot windows7 64bit and arch linux. But my problem is that every time I get to partitioning my hard drive, cfdisk keeps giving me the fatal error "partition ends in the final partition cylinder". I don't know what that means, I tried reformatting my hard drive (twice) and it keeps giving me the same error. I tired installing Arch completely on my hard drive, but then I can't get a windows 7 dual boot, as windows 7 reformats the hard drive. Any ideas on what to do? |

Are you able to create two partitions before installing anything, install Win 7, then install Arch?
I'm in the channel if you want quicker help. |

Yeah, try creating the partitions first. You should take a look at GParted too, it's a GUI for partitioning and works really well.
One idea would be to backup and wipe the drive. Create an extended partition containing two logical partitions, one for Arch and like 2GB for swap. Then create a primary partition after the extended for Windows 7, then another primary for Data that both OS's can access. |
