Iphone on Bell and Telus Networks

I just went to the Bell site where I saw an ad for the iPhone 3Gs. Which got me thinking, is it the phone that is going to be manufactured as a CDMA device, or is Bell planning on switching it's towers to GSM. The former seems much more likely. However, I did a little research, and a little more and found out that Bell is actually upgrading their network to an HSPA-based 3G network (read: the same as what is used in basically the rest of the world).

That makes Canada the first country in North America to have more than one iPhone distributor. Interesting.

Mhm, Bell and Telus got together and built a nice new network.

Hopefully (but I doubt it) this means slightly more competitive rates since now you can just unlock your phone and switch to a different network.

They also signed a deal with At&t so there will be many many phones available on the Bell/Telus network starting in November. I'm pretty excited.

First country I know of to have the iPhone on every major carrier (Rogers/Fido, Bell and Telus).
