Hey guys,
Just switched a laptop over to ubuntu, but the wireless internet isn't working for some reason. I installed wicd, and it detects my network, but when I put in my WEP key it just idles for about 10 minutes trying to get an IP, then fails. Any ideas? |

Sometimes you can use alternative wireless drivers like MadWifi when the ones that Ubuntu decided to use don't work out so well.
So uh, what zero-impact said above. |

If you can't find the right driver, install ndiswrapper. It will let you install the Windows driver instead. Some people say it's a bit buggy but it's always worked for me.
P.S. If you have no internet and you need ndiswrapper, it's on the Ubuntu Live CD, just put the CD and install with aptitude. |
