so, I've got a router at home (surprise, surprise!) that all my computers are connected to. I can see my other computer's shared folders from my laptop, so I know that they are indeed connected. I cannot, however, play LAN games through the router. I enjoyed playing Halo with my brothers in the past, but now, I can't see their games, and they can't see mine. Any idea what this is? I think it's an issue with my PC, as it doesn't work even when I have it connect directly to my laptop via ad-hoc network. I have all the firewalls & anti-virus disabled and it still won't work. Can I get some help with this?

Depending on what game you're trying to play, you may need to set your router to open those ports. Routers are generally given the IP 192.168.1.1, and the default passes can generally be found using Google.

I know, but it isn't the router. On my mac, I set up an ad-hoc network (Where the laptop acts like a router) that other computers can connect to directly. Even in that scenario, it does not work.

Are you playing Halo Mac vs. Halo PC? They are incompatible.

Nope. Halo PC on crossover, and Halo PC on a PC. I worked fine several weeks ago, then it stopped working. Dunno what changed to cause that.

Hmmm...that's weird. Did you use Crossover a few weeks ago? Maybe something's wrong with Crossover that's stopping it from accessing the LAN. If you have Boot Camp with Windows then try installing it on there and see if it works. If it does then something's wrong with Crossover and you need a fresh intall of it. If it doesn't then I don't know what is wrong.
Maybe your router may be blocking your Mac from accessing the other PCs somehow.

I think andrew is right, but my guess is you have closed ports

the ip for a router is either (in my experience)
192.168.0.1
192.168.1.1
192.168.0.10

and if you haven't set a password for the login the user name and password is usually admin and admin

if all else fails RTFM!

Check your IP addresses. The first three blocks should be all the same, but the last should be different. For example, 192.168.1.31 and 192.168.1.32 are good.
