Now, anyone who's read my posts knows I am not a republican or anyone on the right.

But, it is pretty plain to see, that the legal system and tax code in Canada are broken. It is hideously complex, has unpredictable side effects when changed, has a lot of laws that make no sense now, and is not general enough to satisfy unknown but somewhat predictable future demands.

That sounds like the worst software product to ever work on. And its something we have to live with. Its impossible to know all the laws you may be in violation of.

And the tax code is significantly complex, wasting many manhours and time. If we made it simpler, companies would want to invest in and be located in Canada, for the benefits of a simpler tax code. Less money spent on accounting departments leads to money spent elsewhere in the company, or saved. Its a good boon to have companies come to Canada, without boons specifically for them like lower taxes and so on.

Stop reading /. Wink

Mostly our legal system is doing pretty good. It has lots of areas for reform of course - some of the laws create more problems then they solve (if they even achieve that). The policial system does need reform though. There is not nearly enough accountability for politicians, and all together too much corruption in certain institutions (CRTC for instance.... though they seem to be growing a spine these days).

Make it open source and turn it into an anarchy.
