For the point of view of the indusrty, universities and some one running a computer science website aimed at students this is great news. It also might mean more students taking CS in high school and high schools offering more (or any) CS courses.

Tho as some one with a computer sci degree that will need to find work some day, this could make it harder to find a job and mean less pay for more work.

In any case one point of data is not enought to base anything on so we will have to wait and see.

Just to point out, these numbers also include software architects, engineers, and program managers.

Huh? Where does it say that in the NYT article? The CRA Taulbee survey has always been specifically about computer science.

I'm leaning more towards computer engineering than CS, I'm planning on starting a company that can make super-powerful processors out of fertilizer and toenail clippings Very Happy

note : for those with a drier sense of humor, this is called a joke, for reference joke==funny Wink
