Hello,
As you may or may not know; I normally eschew IDEs. I'm of the opinion they waste more time than console productivity can provide.
But, recent developments in OpenCOBOL and the community desire to find a COBOL IDE, I bumped into gnat-gps. I've started customizing and extending it to be an OpenCOBOL/Vala along with its native Ada/C friendly build environment.
Of all the IDEs I've tried to bend to my will, this one seems worthy of further efforts.
Anyone have any experience, opinions, or words of wisdom they'd like to share?
And for the curious; https://libre.adacore.com/gps/main.html and http://www.adacore.com/wp-content/files/auto_update/gps-docs/gps.html (this links to 4.4 docs, whereas my local Debian/Lenny gnat-gps install is 4.01, but they seem close enough for hand grenades. GPS itself links to its own version correct docs with the gnat-gps-doc Debian package).
Cheers,
Brian |
