So for my advanced function course I got 79.9%
My teacher said that she rounds all marks down. so I'll be getting 79% instead of 80%.
I'm not sure but is there like a rule in TDSB or sth that says if it's above .5, round up, not down?
this 1% means alot to me...
I'm kinda pissed, cause if it's any other teacher they will round up my mark... |

Yarg. I have no idea about policies and whatnot, but either way, that'd annoy me, too.
I'd imagine, though, that the professor can do pretty much what they want with grading, unless there's some departmental thing. |

you can take that to your principle, all teachers when giving marks must apply standard rules, this happened to my friend last year, he needed a 95% to get his scholarship in math, but he was given a 94.5 and was then rounded down to a 94, so he went and filed a complaint with the principle |

An alternative approach (before going to the principal) would be to ask the teacher if there is anything you can do to earn the 0.1 of a percent. |

.1%. What's that, one extra question on one random homework assignment? |

Yeah if the teacher won't give it to you (all I can say is, what a nasty teacher! seriously!) I'd talk to your guidance counselor first (they have some good authority and can up marks if necessary) and if they aren't the right person to go to, they can give you some advice. If you get nothing there, approach the principal or vice principal. |

just appeal to her and or the principal. If he/she/they are reasonable people, they will understand that averages are everything to a prospective university, and that every percent counts.
In order to get a 90% average, I once looked back through all of my tests, found a question the tacher marked wtong, and made him correct it (I had a 89.9% and wanted a 95% overall) |

The difference between 79 and 80 will not matter one bit to any university. It's not worth your time and the time of the school personnel. Put the effort into doing better next time. |

That sucks...but I wouldn't worry too much (unless that 80% means a better scholarship ).
I got accepted into UofT, Ryerson, and Waterloo Comp Sci with a 76% in Advanced Functions. You should be fine |

I don't think you understand how much better I feel right now! Sure there are lots of other factors, but I'll take anything right now.
And Horus, surely you can talk to your teacher about it and do some extra random question to get an extra mark or something. |
