Unfortunately, I have recieved a .docx file from a friend for a project. This was done on his windows vista. Howver, I just have windows. Is there anyway to be able to view the content of this .docx with a windows (not vista)?

the .docx format is from the new 2007 office set, not necessarily vista.

I'm sure there is some software out there that could attempt to convert it, but I would think your best bet would be to tell your friend to not save the file as a docx but as a doc file.


EDIT:
Did a Google search and found you can download a patch from Microsoft so that your office will be able to read the xml version.

I haven't tried it personally, but if you read the description, it will allow your current office ( Word, etc.) to read the new 2007 office save sets. Meaning that office 2003 / xp will be able to run, read and write to .docx files.

So yes, it should be exactly what you are looking for.

.docx file extension is Microsoft Office 2007, If you want to view this .docx file so you have to install the Microsoft Office 2007 other wise it will not viewable in your windows. Other way to view the file just change the file extension in the MS Office 2007.
