Hey guys, just wondering about this event I got invited to on facebook (BarCampWaterloo)...

http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/event.php?eid=35235393243
http://barcamp.org/BarCampWaterloo

It seems pretty interesting but despite reading about it on the website and facebook group I'm still sorta wondering about what to expect in the way of presentations and such. It looks to me like its alot of web type technologies and very informal which is kind of refreshing however I have a presentation coming up for school on wireless network research that I could also give at this as practice / a way to get some early feedback ahead of time.

So my question is, has anyone been to these? and would a more formal style of research presentation be welcomed here? (note: the presentation would modified to allow for a less-technical audience first) The reason I'm asking in here is because I've notice a few forumers in here are on the attending list Razz (Tony, Paul etc).

There's a whiteboard that people can sign up on, then audience get to vote on who they want to see present. The presentation time is filled by picking out pitches with most votes.

It could be very informal. Last time a guy who had no intention to present got up and just started talking about his idea.

There was also a UW prof. who was showing off something he was working on. He didn't even bother to have a business plan or anything, he just wanted to show a really cool looking video that demo'ed his software.

And yes, I'm planning on driving up from Toronto for the day to attend.

Hrm that sounds like quite a bit of fun. I think i'll probably show up at for some of it. I was under the impression that everyone must present, so I was really just grabbing at straws. I suppose I'll only present mine if theres a terrible lull or something Razz haha.

Thanks for the quick reply btw!
