After breaking my elbow while pitching, (medial epicondyle if any wants to know, AKA little leaguer's elbow ), I finally got my cast off and am starting my rehab. Yah!
Still can't straighten my arm, and can't even throw a ball for another month. Joints are so stiff, especially my wrist.
Anyone here have had any serious injuries?
BTW, here a brief explanation of the injury I had:

I broke an arm once, pretty neat experience. I didn't feel a thing because of the adrenalin .
I accidently stabbed myself with a craft knife once while cutting some warhammer minis off the sprue. About an inch deep, was pretty cool, I could see the fat (what little I have) and everything. but I got blood in the whole that I put in my pants! ! |

When I was about four, I lived in a house that had a cycle in it (you could walk living room -> dining room -> kitchen -> front hall -> living room), and I had cats. Like many 4-year-olds, I happened to like cats, and would chase mine around this cycle.
Unfortunately, we also had a dishwasher that opened out of one of the corners of this cycle, such that I ended up running past it. My mom did not approve of this in the slightest, but I was 4, so you can imagine how well the "don't do that" stuck in my head.
Anyway, one day the floor decided to be slippery, so my little four-year-old face got to meet up with the sharp, steel corner of the dishwasher. Went right through my lower lip, ended up with stitches inside and out. I still have the scar from that.
Interestingly, though, the memory I have of the experience isn't of the injury or any pain from that, it was from the trauma of being pinned by a team of doctors and nurses who were trying to anaesthetise me before sewing me up...I wasn't a fan, so apparently I shouted the only adequate word at my disposal: "OFF! OFF! OFF!!"
I've also sliced myself with a craft knife (nearly took a chunk out of my thumb). Not serious at all, though. Somehow I've managed to avoid breaking any bones (sprained ankle is the closest I've ever come)...I guess I've been lucky. |

I wouldn't call any of mine serious, however I've had a few fun events.
When I was in public school someone threw a lollipop, and it hit my tooth breaking it off - excruciating pain - I was in tears for a very long time, I still remember the teacher in the yard telling me nothing was wrong, and to calm down. I had to have a root canal, as well as a titanium post installed, and a fake tooth/cap put on.
It was my birthday, my brothers birthday is a couple days after, so my parents would always get him a present or two on my b-day to cheer him up, he got a golf club and some plastic golf balls to play with--ended with me getting the golf club in the head, and a few stitches--the pool of blood was huge as I decided to run around freaking out until I finally stopped on the back porch.
Another time I was biking in sandals, and the front of my sandal hit the ground, causing my leg to go back, it ended up smashing into the gears of the bike, and I had little puncture marks all down my leg from the gears.
I once dropped a painting in my basement, got lazy and instead of picking up all the peices, I kind of just pushed it off to the side, a few days later I was in my basement again, and had forgot that I did that, and accidently stabbed myself in the leg with a huge peice of glass, I had to get a few stitches and have a nice scar on my leg.
Snowboarding in Banff (first time snowboarding out west, but not first time snowboarding), I was trying to keep up with my friends, we were playing a game of tag, and I caught an edge, causing my face to go straight into the snowy ground. The vision on my left eye went completely yellow for quite some time (it was like a yellow tinge, I could see but everything was a shade of yellow, and only out of that eye.) My face was completely covered in snow (didn't wear goggles, lol), and my hip and shoulder were in major pain--my friends didn't notice, so I had to get back up and catch them. I ended up just sitting in the bed for the next couple days cause my hip was so fucked, I tore my rotator cuff, and also had to go to physio for that--still gives me pain when I do certain exercises
A couple months ago, I was biking (I've got a nice Cannondale with clip-in shoes) and I got distracted by a stupid sign (I was trying to read it), and I ended up catching the lip of the road, put my hand out to break my fall, ended up with a bunch of blood blisters in my palm, and an injury to my wrist that still gives me pain, although the doctor says there's nothing wrong with it. |

The reason teachers don't let you play tackle football during recess in grade school is because sometimes someone dives at a fumble and lands in the snow with a rock under their shoulder, followed by everyone else diving for the fumble and the pile of about 6 kids causes someone's collarbone to snap. Now my right shoulder sits a good inch lower than the left.
edit: what else... broke my nose in a fight, rivers of blood blah blah blah... About 6 months ago a drinking glass shattered in my hand as I was cleaning it. Doctor says I was a hair's width from severing some nerve in my hand. |

Well, I have the weirdest injury! I was about five, living in a townhouse, and one day, I was tired of walking up and down the stairs all the time. So, I jumped down an entire flight of stairs. No broken bones, no sprained ankles... but I bit the end of my tongue off.
Apparently I had to be in the hospital for a week, and be fed intravenously. I don't really remember much, just before I jump down the flight of stairs and... nothing.
I've got scars everywhere from x-acto knives, even on the flesh-pad of my thumb.
One time, I had a fork thrown at me, and it actually stuck in my elbow, 1 inch deep. Didn't feel anything. Moral of the story, don't throw forks. |

When I was in high school I was playing basketball for our team and a teammate ran under me while I was jumping. I landed weird because of it and my leg bent at the knee completely sideways. Everything tore inside of it. I went to a sports doctor who moved around my knee causing cartilage to get flipped up under the joint and become pinched. He said "oops that wasn't supposed to happen" and I started screaming in pain at which point he told me to "stop swearing because there are kids around". I was on crutches for the better part of a year while I waited for surgery (at that time our hospitals around here were really busy). When they finally gave me surgery they couldn't fix anything and took out all my cartilage. They then told me not to run or play sports often if i want to be able to walk when im in my 40's. I tried to play again anyways and then my shoulders started popping out all the time. The worst of those was at the same high school playing footbal. I tried to jump and make a pass and when i did my arm came out. The ambulance took two hours to get there and the school left me waiting on the field the whole time in pain. When I finally got to the hospital they gave me laughing gas and wheeled a guy in beside me who had his thumb cut off and squirting blood. Apparently I started laughing, but dont remember much. |
