Short version: Students only, 1st place in any contest (there are 7) gets $500 (USD) and a heavily discounted trip to NYC. Headlining contest is CTF but there are others as well (forensics, essay contest, hardware hacking, etc). http://isis.poly.edu/csaw

The ISIS lab presents NYU-Poly's 5th annual Cyber Security Awareness Week (CSAW) where students can compete and win prizes in a variety of information security challenges. CSAW is a student-run information security competition that culminates with presentations by industry leaders and an awards ceremony on October 14th.

About the competitions:

* Security Quiz: teams go head-to-head answering questions about topics such as network security, cryptography and the history of information security.
* Research Poster Competition: a visually compelling presentation of research on topics ranging from malware to identity fraud.
* Forensics: a fictional murder-mystery students must solve using the remnants of the victim?s smashed USB drive.
* AppSec Capture the Flag: a digital cyber attack and defense competition in detecting application security vulnerabilities.
* Essay Contest: winning essays demonstrate an outstanding grasp of the to-be-announced topic. Last year's topic: is the security industry a lemon market?
* Security Awareness Posters: students create a visual message about passwords, software updating, physical security, etc.
* Underhanded Hardware: students implement infected hardware platforms to resist specific attacks.

Prizes (USD):

* First - $500
* Second - $250
* Third - $100

There will be door prizes, raffles, and bonus prizes for undergraduate and high school participants. Qualified finalists will receive a travel scholarship to attend the awards ceremony in New York City.
