I have two AUX speakers (only have the method of input + have no power input) from my sound system. I now wish to hook up the speakers to my laptop which has the standard headphone output.... I tried cutting an old set of headphone wires, but i'm not sure if there is enough power from the laptop to power one of those speakers. Are there any sort of converters available that might accomplish this? Thanks

To solve the power problem: plug the AC in when using the speakers.

To solve the cable problem, I'm sure you can get an adapter or audio card with the correct ports. of course, there may not be enough space in the laptop, and they are a pain in the ass to work with (hardwarewise)

The speakers do not have an AC input as they receive power from the stereo (when they are hooked up to it)

I found the solution... what I need is an 1/8" headphone to RCA cable. And what I do is I plug in the headphone end into the laptop, the RCA end into the stereo and the Speakers normally into the stereo. And I put the stereo to AUX option.

I meant plug in the laptop AC. But whatever, it's fixed.
