My friend had a virus and decided to back up some files using Nero's back up program then reinstall windows. After windows was installed he tried to copy the contents of the discs but all of the files were in a .nco format.
After checking http://www.fileinfo.net/ I learned you can remove the nco and put a zip to extract that file. But this would make a very long and tedious process.
I am downloading the trial version of Nero 8, because he has lost his installation disc, to see if it can mass extract the files.
Does anyone have any ideas how I can help a friend get his files back. |

Make a simple script to rename all the .nco's to .zip's?
Or, 7zip can try to open any file as an archive. Just install it and CTRL+A in folder, right click > 7zip > Extract to *\ |

Like Aziz said, just use 7-Zip (free program, really good) to unzip every thing. It is a ton faster than the Windows Explorer unzipping program so don't worry about time. You don't have to rename the files though, 7-zip will open it. |
