I've been noticing a few of the avatars. How many people here are Warhammer players?

I've sunk way too many hours into the hobby. Dark Elves, Empire, Orcs and Goblins; Dark Eldar. Mordheim or Skirmish are probably my faves now. I own just about every book GW has ever produced. Oh and WFRP, old and new, and now the new 40K RP has me jonesin' to go buy a book.

And just so everyone knows, WFRP beats the pants off D&D ... simple hit points ... come on; someone hits you with a sword, you lose an arm. Smile

Cheers

The gameplay is just too long. I gave up.

I was into it for a while, but the game mechanics leave something to be desired and it is incredibly expensive. We normally end up playing with tables printed off microsoft word.

I have been meaning to resin cast some copies of their sprues as well (For personal use of course), but haven't gotten around to it.

Yeah; being a high paid computer programmer is one of the few fields that can afford a full army of Warhammer. That and a forgiving wife that gives you Saturday afternoons to play. Smile

I still try and snag time, but I sorely miss the Club. I suck at painting, and one day during a busy Saturday afternoon some jerk ripped off an army case. Little did they know I only had a few figs inside as they were all out on the tables (I share with whoever needs) - but the rest of the room felt so bad for me that I ended up with nearly 4 full fantastically painted armies of gifts over the next few weeks. I ended up with over 30 Cold One knights, hordes of Spear, hordes of Xbow, hordes... It was awesome. Not needing 12,000 points all to myself, I just gave armies to those that cared to play but couldn't really afford to. I think the current club still has a 3,000 point Orc army of mine and a ton of duplicate books I had accumulated. Love the game.

Oh, and after, lets say a life time of 2 or 300 games, I've won maybe 3. Smile I play to play and, well, suck (famously). I was showing a 40K player how Fantasy worked; 3000 point game, my Dark Elves against the Club's Chaos. I got skunked. He didn't lose a fig, and I was wiped off the face of the board. Mind you it was mostly due to a cascade of failed panic, and super crappy flee rolls, but it was actually fun to watch. For a while I had a Blue's Lose weekly post on the Warhammer Players Society forum. I'm proud to own a Possessed Mordheim warband that remains victoryless after some 30 or 40 matches.

Cheers

MY absolute favourite game! Used to play lotr, got about 6000 points of that, went to 3 tourneys last year, score 9 overall in canada!(very good, considering the first tourney I only one 1 game and only 2 games of four in the second tourney, and there were about 10 tourneys throughout the year). Now I'm into 40k
(brand new rulebook out, good thing I didn't buy the last one) Just so you know, black industries closed, so no more WFRP. I really like the new vampire counts, might start up fantasy some day.

Anyone get the new 'Harry the Hammer'? I got it, and it's so friggin awesome! One of the most fun models to paint!

They were going to produce an expansion to...what was it, Dark Herey? They had advertisements and everything, plenty of pre-orders, and then they go and cancel the project and close down. The 5th edition 40k is funny though, there are some codices still unupdated from 3rd edition. I believe this is the first time in the history of GW that a rulebook has been released before the previous edition codices!(poor imperial guard, so many rules flaws with their 15-year-old codex...) well, not that old...

What's so magnitudy about it? I collect because I am nearly as atracted to miniatures as I am to girls! The fact that it's a game is a bonus.
