Hi,

I don't have much idea about Canadian universities and I never been to Canada before. I have completed my graduation in computer science with good CGPA about 3 years back and since then working in software industry.

I like to go for Masters degree in Software Engineering or more preciously - I like to research on multi-touch supported digital tablet device related area. I have some of my own research and I have good experience in .Net technologies (I heard some university professors don't like Microsoft technology, don't know if thats true)

Can anyone please suggest me some universities that are good in Computer Science research on recent technologies.

Thanks.

University of Waterloo and University of Toronto are the first that come to mind for me when i think of graduate research in Ontario Canada. I am not sure about other provicens tho.

I do not see any professor rejecting a potental grad students becues there work involes Microsoft technology (unless there where copy right issues).

It might help to look at the CS facuatly pages of canadain universitys and see if any of there profs are doing simualr research or have published papers realting to it.

As was mentioned elsewhere on the forums, if you know what your area of interest is, it might be a good idea to scan the published papers on the subject(s) and tally where the research took place. This should give you an idea as to who leads, or at least publishes the most, in the field.

I know of a few profs at Guelph that are doing research in user interfaces that might be interested to hear some proposals, just browse through some of the names / research labs on the guelph cis site: http://www.cis.uoguelph.ca

University of Toronto. I'm finishing up my PhD degree at U of T and U of T has a strong HCI program where you can focus on this kind of stuff. Specifically, I'm talking about the Dynamics Graphics Lab or DGP at http://www.dgp.utoronto.ca.

Other good universities for CS also include University of Waterloo (as mentioned before), University of Calgary, University of British Columbia (UBC).

Everyone, thanks a lot for your suggestions.

One more thing: Can you one comment on the CS department of Queens?

I found some post says that Queens is good for Law but not much for CS.
