|
|
I am making a pacman game, and I'm trying to hijack sounds from one I downloaded. Unfortunately, none of the files are sound files, they're all 'file' files that my computer cannot read. when I convert to a wav file it cannot be read. Help? |

what do you mean by "file" files? what's the extension on them? And where did you download the game from? is it a rom? |

I mean, where the file type should be if you click on 'details' (assuming you're running XP) it just says 'file'. Not MP3 file, not t- file, just...file.
Perhaps this is because my computer doesn't recognise what kind of file it is?
The program is called PacPC, an old game made during the days of DOS (The readme has installation instructions for DOS). It has since been updated with an installer and condensed to a RAR, and posted on the internet. It's funny, the sounds all play in-game, but I can't play them from the file I stored them in. |

It's probably impossible as the files would be highly compressed and read-only by the exe of the game. If it was to be done, it would likely take a converter that would be specifically tailored to those files.
There is an alternative option to ripping them out of this game though. You can download the sounds and music directly ripped from the original Pacman from here:
http://rapidshare.com/files/113583583/psfx.zip
I'm not sure if this is what you want though so just download and check to make sure they are the correct files before implementing into the game

You know, I spent three hours on google looking for those sounds? Thnks. No I need an mp3 converter to change the background sound from a wave to an mp3 (Because only 1 wav can be played at a time)
I'm going to have to see the media teacher at lunch... |

Wait a sec.. you're asking for help using the copyrighted sounds from a game you didn't write?
Sorry. That sort of thing is heavily frowned upon. |
