Any suggestions?

After finals this week I want to turn the break into a productive one. What was the most fruitful decision you guys ever made in regard to your enlightenment in computer science?

An example answer might be: "learned PHP" or "read Operating Systems in a Nutshell" or "indulged in LFS"

I have some ideas of my own, but I'm hoping to get some matches before I end up wasting my christmas break. Thanks.

yea the 2001 copy, thats the lastest i think. if you can finish it, and understands half of it, you are set for life, maybe

Get Operating Systems and Desing, 3rd Ed. Read it. Lots of really good information on the fundamentals of an operating system.

Then read something on compilers; really anything will do. Just get a decent understanding of how compiling works, not how a specific compiler works.

Next up is find something truely frightening in the news, something that makes you really paranoid. Paranoia is a great motivation for studying encryption and systems security.

After that... well you should be able to handle most things. Jus try to remember that too much paranoia is bad for your brain. Not everyone's out to get you, only some of us are.
