|

I am looking for a FREE website editor that I can use at work. Notepad is just to plain and Dreamweaver is to expensive. I am looking for something smiler to Dreamweaver (like microsoft office and open office) but unable to find one.
Some things I am looking for:
coloured syntax when editing
html
php
css
javascript
ext... website management
syntax popup help
If anyone knows of a program or are using a program similar to Dreamweaver or at least contains the above list please let me know.
EDIT: has to be for windows!!! |

I'm thinking something like TextMate for a Mac or possibly Eclipse for Windows. |

It doesn't do any of the management or syntax popup stuff, but gedit is great for any kind of text work. I do my developing with sshfs (secure network filesystem), firefox (for viewing rendered pages and looking stuff up) and gedit for writing xhtml, php and css. |

Actually for some tricky XHTML/CSS -- I write it straight in Firefox (with Firebug), and then copy it into the source files (Eclipse). |

Dunno about the "website management" part, but Notepad++ is pretty excellent for just writing stuff. |

Also, for a text editor with different macros and stuff... look into Crimson Editor. |

I would second Notepad++. Just google it. We got our school to install it on PCs for this year. It's nice. |

Not exactly what I had in mind.
Taste is intangible, and yet it is the most tangible aspect of web programming. |
