PostPosted: Tue Aug 21, 2007 4:57 pm   Post subject: Marathon

Hey guys, I'm making a marathon attempt tonight. That is, I'm running the distance of a marathon, by myself. As such, I need a huge source of motivation. Over the last few days I've been telling everyone I know about it, and asking that they ask my Wednesday or later how far I ran. This way, while I'm running I will undoubtedly feel like quitting, but I know that if I do I'll have to explain myself to everyone. It turns my pride into motivation.

So, CompSci.ca, with your thousands upon thousands of members, you are the wind beneath my wings.

Can I ask why you are deciding to run a marathon distance? Also, like Tony said, no abusing mod priveleges and deleting this thread!

Thanks Tony. You understand my intentions. Smile

Clayton, because it's the longest run that is a standard. I want to be able to say, "I've run a marathon". Actually, even more than that, I want to be able to say, "I've hit the wall". I want to experience that. It might be a little like death. I'm looking forward to it.

I'm starting within an hour!

I tried Marathon (the UT mod, not the orignal; I'm old but I missed out on that one) and it seemed pretty cool but I hated those floaty phantom guys. Also, it was a little buggy and crashed pretty often.

I liked the akimbo pistols, even though I could only really fire one without something fucking up.

Good luck, Cervantes.

I did it!! Although, it took me 4:45. That's, uh, very slow. Well, I wasn't really prepared. I was supposed to have run several 34km runs before attempting a marathon. Before tonight, the furthest I had ever run was 26km, once. Heh. Still, I'm glad.

Thanks for the support, guys. Truly, it helped.

Pictures on facebook.

And I was dead after jogging one mile (I believe it was mile and not km, it was called the "mile run" in fitness class, but perhaps was a km)

Well I am fat so it made it even worse. Running a marathon would kill me. How is a Marathon, and what was the weather like?

Congrads on the achievement!

Btw, Cervantes, will you be on campus this fall? I'd like to start doing some runs, I want to get back into shape.
