Job positions are available only for experienced java programmers, that is, those programmers that have 5 ~ 7 years work experience in java.

There are little to no entry level jobs.

A good place to get a good idea of how many jobs there are available is http://monster.ca. Just search for Java Developer or Java Programmer or something like that. Although rizzix is right that most programming jobs require a lot of experience, I did find several jobs for Junior Java Developer available, so there are some jobs available that don't require as much experience.

As far as pay goes, you should get paid fairly well as a java programmer, especially with more experience.[/url]

As a Java developer? Probably.

The problem is that since just about every University covers Java to a certain degree, every new graduate attempts to get a job with this programming language - thus as rizzix have said, there are no entry level jobs.

Besides, at the entry level, it's much more about non-technical characteristics such as language, communication, character, term-work, interest in the subject. Experience with a particular syntax base is of lesser importance.

Meaning to say one would probably hire a new graduate with no practical Java experience over an experienced programmer who has trouble communicating and getting along with the rest of the team.

It could be different once you hit that 5~7 year mark and really know what you're doing.

I think a good question to ask right now -- why limit yourself to just Java? Everybody does Java.

I Liked this site (monster.ca) there in canada have much more work than here...
about the guys that is making CS with Java is a problem here too... many schools is getting java as the first OO leanguage...
but, what about C#? i don't know the future of C# but in Canada u guys think that C# can grow?

tnx all u guys!!
(edit just to correct the CC to CS, here in Brazil we call CC "Ciência da Computação"... is the same thing...)
tnx again!

Everyone does Java, and everyone does C#. These are both languages and environments "officially" endorsed by the bureaucratic system, and hat means that getting a job using them requires jumping through the bureaucratic hoops.

You will have to have 3-5 years of previous experience to get an entry level job in the U.S. or Canada.

Tony is quite right to ask, because there is very little reason to limit yourself to Java. It is not difficult to get involved with other languages and environments that are not saturated.

I dont know where you guys are getting these numbers from... plenty of companies hire plenty of new grads, and not just for entry level jobs either.

I like how everyone overlooks the fact that it's extremely difficult for anyone moving to Canada to get a CS/tech/medical job. There are government regulations exactly to prevent that kind of thing.

Just ask wtd!

i don't understand this word "overlook", from here what i know is that the brazil got a lesser territory than canada but got 200.000.000+ people Shocked agains a little more than 30.000.000+ from canada, since this population is aging, and the country needs new professionals, because this they (governors of canada) maked the things more easy like they say in this site: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/index.asp .
i'm not looking for the others jobs, of course not... but if have vacant, i think that don't have problem right?
the things is going bad here in Brazil... no one can be happy here without stealing (our politicians) :-/!!!
i hope u guys understand.

I simply point out that moving to a new country is difficult.

Hey, if you better qualify for that position - by all means, please take it!

Yes, moving to a new country and starting to look for a job in professional field will be difficult, so it helps to do as much research as you can. Kudos for looking into it already, and asking here Wink Another site to check out programming job information would be http://dice.com - they specialize in IT careers, although the coverage of Canada is quite limited.

Hi again dudes, and tnx the nice reply Tony...
so, my girlfriend told me about a lecture about immigration to quebec in canada that will occur here, in my city and in others citys in Brazil... not in better time... the site is this: http://www.imigracao-quebec.ca/ they are looking for people to work there, this site said that in quebec have more than 2.500 brazilians, so i'll not be alone Smile! but, by the way, some people that i know and meet the canada said me that there have some funny people too like here in Brazil so i think that it don't gonna be a problem.
tnx again.

Another thing to consdier is that univeristy and collage degreses from other conotrys do not allways trafser well to canada. In some cases peoleop with PHDs from other conotrys can not get any work becues no companys or instutions will recognize that degrea.

There are new programs starting up that offer retraing, however it dose not seem easy to find infromation about them.

Also as you may know quebce is mostly french canadian speaking well the rest of canada is english speaking. This could make comunication even harder, tho most peoleop in quebce also speak english.
