I'm giving up on Linux. It's been a wild ride, but after having to reinstall Windows, and thus wiping out my Ubuntu install, I'm finding less and less reason to reinstall it. Especially given how impressed I've been with Vista and Office 2007.
I'm not going to discourage any of you from experimenting with it. I just don't see much of a future for Linux, and so I'm ending my flirtation with the penguin. |

you mentioned being impressed with vista and office 2007. I am familar with the latter, but what is it about vista that makes it impressive? |

It was cool.. |

Well, it's from Microsoft isn't it? A functioning product is most certainly impressive |

Freakman, have you even used office 07? People who just jump on the "I hate Microsoft" bandwagon annoy me. I don't mind people who dislike Microsoft for good reasons, but people who just generally say stuff like "A functioning product is most certainly impressive " just prove that they dion't really know what they're talking about |

I as well agree with BenLi. Sure, Microsoft has't had the greatest lineup of software and utilities, but to say "a functioning product is most certainly impressive" just shows that you hate microsoft. Although i'm not ready to buy and install Vista jsut yet ( mostly because my computer needs another gig of ram at the very least ), they hae had many "functioning" peices of software in the past. Microsoft wouldn't be striving if ALL of thier software was flawed and countless people having problems.
Another bandwagon - "People who hate people who hate Microsoft" |

Why did the Office 2007 team decide to bastardize the traditional interface so badly? It looked fine before. I find it harder to be productive when I don't know where in the hell 1/2 the tools I'm used to went.
I must say, Microsoft did do a better job of securing Vista than XP, though. |

I'd still like to hear about why Office 2007 is good. I'll admit, I don't work in an office and type up long reports and proposals, crunch numbers in speadsheets, and wow the shit out of everyone with my spiffy slideshow presentations. What is it that Office 2007 has that makes it better than earlier versions? Do you people go out and buy the new version as soon as it's available? I'm very cynical and can't quite ignore the idea of people formatting their computers now and then and saying "hmm... Office 2007 is out, might as well download that and install it instead of Office 2003!".
I don't hate Microsoft for no reason, I just don't have any reason to care about them. |

Yeah, maybe his windows crashed and now he can't get online
And I like Office 2007 too, I like the layout and the roll-over apply style idea. But, it does have its down side (like um, some stuff needs dignostics to get it fixed... *sigh* it used to be cool, but now it isn't...) |
