Firefox won't download anymore.

I'm having problems with firefox dowloading files. When I go to download a file the download manager doesn't come up and when I open the download manager it doesn't show any of my previous downloads. I've already tried reinstalling firefox and there are no viruses. If anyone can help that would be great.

Are you sure that you have your preferences are set up right? Surf through and double check. The file may still be downloaded, but the download manager may not pop up.

If you've just updated firefox to a newer version perhaps try removing your profile. That will reset _all_ your settings.

On windows it's in Application Settings (hidden folder), then iirc mozilla and then firefox. It's named some random string.profile.

On *nix it's in ~/.mozilla and is otherwise the same as above.

Ok thanks I'll try that. One other thing that has also just recently happened is that windows explorer is acting up and I get an error message when going into some parts of the control panel when I have another explorer window open or WMP. I know the simple answer is upgrade to linux but my parents don't want to. I've also downloaded the patch and it didn't work.

Linux is not an upgrade; it's an entirely new OS And it's not exactly the solution you seem to think it is... lots of learning new things and probably getting very frustrated.
