In this case because you would seem to be the one posting the stupid spam topic. Wink

Haha, nice wtd. Wink

The thing is, TokenHerbz, that you're usually not. You may be the first person to post in them, but that really is pointless seeing as how they get deleted soon after.

So the moral of the story is thus: TokenHerbz, don't reply to spam.

Bot/Company spam is ushely removed form the site very fast. If you find some that is not, please report it to a mod or admin that has power in that area. To find out how has power where you can check out our Staff Site link at the top of the page. Normally if the user posting the spam is a bot or a spammer with no real posts there account will be banned.

Spam by users (like this) is more debatable as to whether it should be removed, locked or just flamed by the locals and takes longer for something to happen to it. Of course the rules are stricter in the help and programing section then in off topic.

As for why you see it first, if some one has had enough time to post to it it ushely means there has been enough time for a mod to see it and start removing it. So by the time any one has posted the topic is gone.

That or you have no life and are allways viewing the off topic form. Razz

In fact, it is best for you to just ignore it.

Even if you wanted to help by notifying a moderator, there's no way you can be sure that someone else hasn't already. Now, I don't get alot of PMs, but I can imagine that if I started getting just a single message every week or two I'd get annoyed. Honestly.

Anyways, if you've noticed lately... I come and check out the forum in the early AM's, at which time these spam posts appear.

despite the increased levels of spam as of late, I'd like to think that we handle it fairly quickly. I personally clean out a handful of threads and accounts on daily basis, but obviously can't monitor the forums 24/7.

Replying to spam threads is counter-productive. One quick way to spot s spam thread is 'odd thread name' + new user + no replies.

Bottom line - when the spam thread gets deleted, so are all the posts. Deleted posts == bits penalty, and thus everyone replying to a spam thread (that would be you TokenHerbz) ether gets their bits deducted, or ends up in our Evidence archives. Having your username show up often in Evidence is bad.
