OK... every time I start the DHCP Client service, my cpu freezes and restarts. This is to say, that if i put it on automatic start-up, my cpu will restart indefinitely (in other words, i'm screwed). The only way it works is in safe mode. I put it on manual start, and even if I manually start it when I log into windows, the cpu freezes, then restarts. Reaallyy messed up. I hate running my comp in safe mode, so if there is a kind soul with some information on how to approach this problem, I will be forever grateful. Thanks Smile

Have you attempted to uninstall then re-install? Perhaps your installation was corrupted in some way or another? Was the Client installed for some time before the crashes began? If so, did you download something you shouldn'tve? Perhaps you should be more explicit in your question Razz

Okay, can u guide me through the uninstall/reinstall process? I checked on google, most instructions that they give are for windows NT and 2000. I am running XP. Im not sure how to uninstall the client? Thanks

go to add/remove programs in the control panel, go down to DHCP in the program menu, click on change/remove and read the instructions to remove it, then simply find the installation again (presumably you still have it, if not, get one) and install.

Suppose I don't have one, where could I find one? What is it anyways... is it like a .dll? I tried googling it, u can't exactly 'download' it..?

Step 1: Backup data.
Step 2a: Install linux based OS
Step 2b: Install a *BSD based OS
Step 2c: Install a crappy windows OS

Step 3: ????
Step 4: Profit!!!!! (Unless you followed step 2c, in that case give all your profits to Microsoft)
