You can get a mostly equivalent iMac for $1,849. Smile

Only real difference is a 250GB drive vs. the 320GB drive in the system you listed, and of course the fact that you can run Mac OS X on the iMac.

Whats the point of having an OS that I don't use? Otherwise I would have installed a distro of Linux already..
Besides, the idea of having a mac mouse frightens me

You can use a PC mouse with a mac; they are quite compatible.

Personally I think the choice of components needs some improvement... a 450W power supply isn't nearly big enough (650W or 700W is much better). !G of ram is not a lot; especially if you intend to run vista. 2G would be a much more realistic figure ram-wise. A floppy? Who uses those! And a modem too! Eck!. Two DVD drives seems like a waste; why have two when one will do just fine?

While I am not a far of iMacs (they're kinda ugly...) I also think that you might be paying too much for that computer.

Well, its customizable, I just listed the default components. I also added individual prices in the original post, which looks reasonable. the parts add up to a whopping 2176...

but wth are those both motherboards or something

What's the harm? Smile

I mean, if you want to run Vista, and plan on acquiring it legally, XP Home will not entitle you to any kind of discount.

So if Vista really is your goal, at least for now, either option would leave you on an even footing.
