it has occured to me how foolish some people are. there was a link off of yahoo's main website to its laptop recommendation page for a toshiba satellite m35-s456, which costs $1500. I glanced at the specs and found them to be really sub-par. however what i find even more disturbing is some of the user reviews:

It's "fast", hard drive is "pretty large", screen is "super bright", battery life is "pretty good", you can listen to a CD or watch a DVD "without booting regularly", just push media express button so "media player pops up speedily" speakers are "freakishly small"... I mean wtf?!?! and this review is ocmparitively better than most others, including one liners "it is the coolest laptop i have ever owned." (anyone wanna guess how many laptops he owned?) with a 5 rating on everything. why would you even bother review something if you are completely clueless on what you talk about?!

Do yourself a favour and stay away from ebgames.com. I've seen reviews for things by people who don't own them.

stay away from review on any cultural item. Apple, Linux, Firefox.. etc. Generally it will be a mix of extremely positive and extremely negative reviews (proportions depending on the location serveyed)
