PostPosted: Fri Sep 01, 2006 8:53 pm   Post subject: Dance Game

Okay, here is another game that I found sitting around in some folders. It's a dancing game that was inspired by DDR, but unlike DDR it doesn't rely on the arrows. Instead your flashed characters from the number pad and you have to press them in time to earn 'style'. Ya I know it's kinda cheessy but this was made in grade 10 so give me a break Smile

MAKE SURE YOU READ THIS BEFORE YOU DOWNLOAD----->

The version that I have uploaded here is the user mode. What does this mean? Well it means that this is code and graphics only. In order to have music, pick your 10 favorite songs(preferably dance tracks) and name then Song1.mp3, Song2.mp3, all the way to Song10.mp3 and put them in the same folder as the rest of the files

<------MAKE SURE YOU READ THIS BEFORE YOU DOWNLOAD

Controls

-To chose the difficulty or song, use the arrow keys
-Press 'c' after you chose the difficulty and the song
-When the numbers/sybols flash on the screen, press
the appropriate number/symbol on the numpad.

NOTE:Make sure num lock is turned on
(or else u won't be able to use the
number '5')

BTW, if anyone wants, I can upload the original version which had 10 dance tracks that I selected with their names in the menu.

Oh and let me know what you think. If there is enough support, I might resurect this game and start working on it again.

EDIT: I deleted the old attachment and re-uploaded the game using a lower compression ratio. This should fix some of the unzipping problems.

i haven't looked at the game yet but if you upload your own games, how do you know that the rythm that the button come will be the same as the music. Because the whole point of DDR is a sense of rythm so you can "learn" the level

like I said, this was made in grade ten, so the concepts of the numbers being in time with any music completly eluded me. Very Happy It's basically a game where you can practice your numpad skillz with a little music to keep you entertained.

Hmm... I didn't hear any sounds.

Anyway, to make the numbers in time with the music, I assume, would require you to make an mp3 parser because there is no way to detect what sound is being played in Turing. However, this would required a lot of extra work not to mention keeping the numbers in time with the music.

Um, I'm having a little problem extracting your program. Everytime I try to extract it with winrar it shows some error screen about not knowing how the file has been compressed or something of the nature. I can view everything inside with WinRAR but I can't extract it.

Also I was wondering if you could post the code or send it to me because I'd like to see how you made the game. I'm just very interested. I know I'm not high up on the hierarchy of CompSci so if you have some problem with doing so then its your call. I just wanted to see how you did everything. You can always learn a thing or two from just looking at other people's programs.
