Controversy sourrounds the New game "Bully" due for PS2 shelves in october. Critics say it glorifies school volence and has obvious references to the columbine massacre. What role do video games have as a social commentary?

The really stupid people will always try to tie violence to video games. The only way to counter the bad publicity is to make sure that when you finally snap, don't kill everyone in a way that has been done in any video games.

That includes stomping them on the head or throwing fireballs.

(Seriously, I remember people on the news talking about Microsoft's Flight Simulator games being used to train terrorists in the World Trade Center attacks).

No one wants to admit that they're a bad parent, so when they see a kid who's a lot like their own do somethign crazy, they decide to blame games, tv, rap music and god knows what else instead of looking at what they should be looking at, which is themselves.

edit: As for Bully, it looks to me like a modified GTA... but since it's Rockstar, I have to think it'll be a quality game.

Really no one want's to actually BE a parrent; which is why there all these US laws making it so that people don't need to think about parenting, the law takes care of it all.

If you don't know who Jack Tompson is, he is basically some guy who wants to see an end to violence in video games. He has sued and attemped to sue Take-Two (rockstar) a few times. If you want more info, search his name in google. He has his own website and a page on wikipedia.

That guy (Jack Thompson) is such an idiot. He keeps going on and on about his "scientific" research and ignores other findings and polls. Even if those findings are taken from gamers, isn't that the crowd who he thinks will snap? If 91% of them know that the games they play will not cause violence, doesn't that tell you something? And yet he still claims parents have nothing to do with it. Pisses me off... just another extremist/money-hungry lawyer!
