My old computer is incredibly old and it was homebuilt by someone 10 or more years ago (Pentium). It has no USB, no E-Net, no anything. I think you can have sound with it, but I don't have a soundcard in it. Anyways, I installed some free shareware billiards game on it and it had sound effects (and even a song at the end!!!) How can this program create sound?!?! In case you're interested, the volume control has NO effect on the sounds. |

chances are its generated by the tiny speaker at the bottom of your computer, the thing that makes the beep when you turn the computer on. |

Yeah. Good way to tell: did the sound effects and music sound like crap? PC speaker.
I think in the volume control settings you can enable a slider for the PC speaker volume, but I've never had any luck muting it. My solution was to not connect the speaker when I built this computer. |
