1) My CD/DVD Drive does not detect CD's when they are put in. Although the files of the disk can be accessed manually, the disk drive does not fully detect them. Restarting my computer will fix the issue temporarily, but the problem reoccurs with every subsequent attempt of the same function.
2) As a direct result of the first problem, I am unable to transfer files on my computer onto CD/DVD format. Given that the driver does not fully detect the disk, every attempt to transfer files yields an error message reading that there is no disk in the drive.
3)When I restart my computer so that it reads the disk, a small alert displays, indicating that I have files waiting to be written. Upon clicking, I am directly to my disk drive, wherein there are no files to be found. As such, no transfer of files can even be started. A week after the 'you have files waiting to be written' messages continues to display upon every restart, however, the files waiting to be written are finally displayed. The problem, then, is that there is no disk detected in the drive.
What can I do? |

Check in your device manager that the drive doesn't have any conflicts.
Then, make sure that you have the most recent drivers for your drive. You might want to check out the newest firmware as well.
Sometimes, changes to the operating system or other devices will conflict with your hardware - so occasional updates (even on mundane things like CD/DVD drives) are necessary. |
